Austin Flynn

Austin Flynn - Head Football Coach/Asst. AD

Coach Flynn enters his sixth season as Head Coach of the Deer. Austin is a Graduate of Deer Park High School where he was named US Army All American as a Quarterback. He attended Iowa State University on a football scholarship later to be named a Captain of the Cyclones. Austin and his wife, Janna, have three children, Ethan (14), Evie (8) and Eric (6).

Jeff Sciba

Jeff Sciba - Offensive Line

Coach Sciba joins us for a fourth season at Deer Park. A Clear Brook HS graduate, Jeff went on to earn a degree from the University of Houston in Clear Lake. Jeff enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting and watching his son Jaxon (11) in Little League Sports with his wife, Ashley and daughter, Raegan (2).  Coach Sciba lives by the motto that, “Everything happens for a reason.”

Dakota Chandler

Dakota Chandler - Defensive Line

Coach Chandler is entering his fourth year with the Deer.  A graduate of DP, Dakota was most recently coaching Running Backs and Defensive Line at Bonnette Jr. High.  After high school, Dakota went on to graduate from Southern Nazarene University.  When not coaching, he can be found golfing, working out, competing, and spending time with his wife, Blair and children, Anniston (2) and Deacon (6 months).  Coach Chandler often reminds his players to “control what you can control.”

Troy Ramsey

Troy Ramsey - Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Troy earned a Master of Sports Studies from the United States Sports Academy after earning his BS from the University of North Texas.  He has worked with many different programs including the University of Pittsburgh, University of Arizona and University of Colorado.  Troy and his wife, Paula, have two children, Austin (8) and Vivienne (6).

Ben Barkema - Offensive Coordinator

Coach Barkema is entering his fifth season as Offensive Coordinator for the Deer.  Prior to Deer Park, he spent 10 years in college coaching at numerous stops including Iowa State University where he played football and earned his Master’s Degree. Coach Barkema enjoys playing golf with his fiancé, Jenny and daughter, Liv (2).

Bryan Williams

Bryan Williams - Offensive Line

Coach Williams is entering his fifth year with the Deer. He has coached within Pasadena ISD and Goose Creek ISD as well as FBCA in Pasadena. He is a Sam Rayburn HS graduate and earned degrees from Nicholls State and University of Houston. Bryan and his wife Stacy, have two daughters, Kali (21) and Madi (18, FR. BB @ Cisco College). They enjoy spending their downtime together as a family.

Justin Garney

Justin Garney - Wide Receivers

Coach Garney is returning for his 5th year as the Deer Park wide receivers coach. This will be his 15th year of coaching overall. He spent his first ten years at South Houston High School, where he coached wide receivers and was the head baseball coach for 6 years. He teaches in our CTE program and his wife, Vinicia, and him have four boys, Mike, Nate, Jake, and Vinny. He has one Daughter-in-law, Victoria, and one grandson, Phoenix.

Dan Lounsbury - Defensive Line

Coach Lounsbury is entering his 21st season coaching at Deer Park. Prior to Deer Park he had stops with Louise HS, Wharton HS and as a Graduate Assistant at the University of

Wisconsin Superior. Coach Lounsbury is a former player and graduate of Purdue University and received his Masters from University of Houston Victoria.

Tim Martin - Defensive Coordinator

Coach Martin returns for his second season with the Deer and first season as Defensive Coordinator.  He is entering his 13th year of coaching, including stops at Dickinson and Pasadena Memorial.  Tim’s wife Janna, is a CTE Administrator in Pasadena ISD.  Tim and Janna have three children, Reed (JR. Football), Katelyn (Playing Volleyball @ Texas Wesleyan) and Jolie (5th Grade at SJE).  Outside of practice, Coach Martin enjoys hunting and fishing and is also a Certified Hunters Ed and Boaters Ed Instructor.

Russell Medley - Running Backs

Coach Medley is excited to return for his fourth season with the Deer. After football, Russell can be found coaching the throwers and other track events in the spring. An alumnus of Deer Park Football, Russell went on to Texas A&M University to earn a degree in History and Business. Coach Medley and his wife, Angie, have two children, Bryce (FR. Football) and Ava (12). Coach reminds his players often, “Success isn’t owned. It’s leased and rent is due every day.”

Scott Harrell - Corners

Scott Harrell is entering his 1st season with the Deer, but has coached 21 seasons in high school and middle school. Scott previous coached in Deer Park at Bonnette for 13 years and stints in Spring Woods, HISD, and Anahuac. He played defensive back and graduated from Texas Southern University where he was three year starter in football and was a part of the Flying Tiger track team at Texas Southern. Scott has his master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Educational Leadership. He has served as the pass game coordinator at for the last three years in SBISD. Scott will be Co-teaching in Special Education and also serving as an assistant track coach. Coach Harrell has two children, Xavier (18) and Genesis (16). He is married to Tyra Harrell for 22 years she serves as the Lead Athletic Trainer for SBISD and Head Athletic Trainer for Spring Woods High School.

Jim Davidson

Jim Davidson - Head Athletic Trainer

Coach Davidson has been with our district for three decades.  He came to us from Lamar Consolidated, where he was also the athletic trainer.  He graduated from Waltrip HS and then moved on to attend the University of Houston, where he earned his degree in Physical Education, Health and Sports Medicine.  Coach Davidson says that the most common injuries he sees in football are soft tissue and ankle injuries.  He and his wife, Leisa, a teacher in the Deer Park District, and their son Tyler (17) (A Senior Varsity Player) are members of the First Baptist Church of Deer Park. Outside of school he enjoys skiing, hunting and hiking.

Ryan Hrncir - Quarterbacks

Coach Hrncir returns for a 7th season with the Deer and can also be seen on the basketball court coaching the freshmen boys’ team.  Ryan is a graduate of Texas State University where he earned a degree in Exercise Sports Science.  Coach and his wife Amber, have two children, Noah (11) and Kade (6).  His motto to live by is “There is nothing better than being a part of something bigger than yourself.”

Tim Martin

Michael Lawrence - Safeties

Coach Lawrence is in his second season with the Deer, but has coached 30 seasons in college and high school. He played and graduated with a BS in Marketing Ed from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Master’s degree from Indiana State University.  He has been Defensive coordinator at La Marque, South Grand Prairie, Plano East, Burleson, and a Head coach at FW Western Hills.  He is also an assistant track coach and teaches CTE.  Coach Lawrence has two daughters, Alyssa (23) and Kaley (19) as well as two step sons Elias (17) and Andrew (15).  He is engaged to the former Andrea Toller who is a 3rd grade teacher in CCISD.

Harold Flynn

Harold joins the Deer with over 40 years of coaching experience.  He walked the halls of Deer Park Jr. High for 18 years, teaching history and coaching football, basketball and tennis.  A graduate of Lamar University and stand-out baseball star, Harold was inducted into the Lamar Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019.

David Viaclovsky

David Viaclovsky - Assistant Athletic Trainer

Coach Viaclovsky is starting his 4th year at Deer Park this year.  He was the Athletic Trainer at B. F. Terry High School in the Lamar Consolidated ISD and most recently worked as the staff Athletic Trainer for Dr. Walt Lowe with UT Health / UT Physicians.  He graduated from Deer Park HS in 1989 and then moved on to the University of Houston where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology.  His passion is education.  Educating athletes about their injury, guiding them through their rehabilitation, and being an integral part of the sports medicine care team from the moment of injury to their return to full sports participation.  Seeing an athlete return to doing what they love and are passionate about doing is his motivation.
